The vagus nerve is the main line between the brain and the internal organs — it carries the signals that slow the heart, ease blood pressure and move the body from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest. On the neck it runs closest to the skin, so Pulsetto sits there and stimulates both sides at once. Nothing is implanted; the pulses simply reach the nerve through the skin.
